Rumor had it that when celestials reached the end of their calculated lifespans, they would undergo Five Decays. Once accustomed to staying within the boundaries of bliss, they would be reluctant to part with it, taking in the poison of aversion. According to the ‘six harmonies mental cultivation’, once a ‘celestial’ ate and drank of the human world’s smoke and fire, they would present a waning appearance, their hairs turning white, qi gradually weakening, and body gradually declining. No longer would they prosper, nearing their own coffin.

  1. Thank you so much for the translation! You did an amazing job! I’m going to read Lord Seventh now. I hope it’s even better than this book! 😊

  2. Thank you ever so much for this amazing translation!!! Very smooth and so, funny and pleasant to read. Such a pity this novel was so short… i soooo wish there were many more moments and feelings for Zzs and wkx to share together. The dialogues are absolutely hilarious. Themes such as immortality, revenge, friendship, love, shifu-disciples, etc are subtly questioned and re-visited.
Thank you so much again for the hard work! And for sharing!!!
Best wishes for great fun in your future works.

  6. When Ye Baiyi appeared I stuck with his character because I found this annoying old man who bickered with Wen Kexing every chance he got funny, but as the story progressed I realized how lonely he was especially after the puppet manor arc where he disappeared while the three stayed and made a temporary home with their own little family.
Baiyi lived his life atop a cold mountain with little to no warmth be it food or human relations. So to see Baiyi abandoning being a ‘celestial’ to embrace mortality and throwing his entire being into food and travel (although brief) and him choosing to “live” before he finally returns to dust comforts me. Live well old man, enjoy the warm food and wine, a warm bed, and the dusty road.

I enjoyed this novel and was intrigued with the Lord Seventh and the Great Shaman so it’s definitely on my to-read list. Thank you for the translation and to those who commissioned the remaining chapters!

    • To me, this is a beautiful story..so beautiful i want to constantly read every word again and again. Zishu, Wen Ke Xing, Ye Bai Yi …all of them went through not only physical journey but emotional as well as spiritual journey. I am just happy that in the end they find peace. Thank you for the translations without which i would be missing on something that is inspiring….

  7. Thank you so much. I had came across this book in NU years back, but brushed it off due to tragedy tag. Thanks to Word of Honor hype, I picked this after knowing that it isn’t BE for our main CP. Didn’t regret it. This book is beautiful. It told the tale of ‘life’. I am off to watch the drama adaptation to see how they will pan out. So far, I liked their main casts (be it either make up or costume) that makes ZZS feels like ZZS and WKX feels like WKX when they stands together.

  8. That’s why I never understand the reason why one may desire immortality. Who wants to spend an eternity alone, when there is no one to share common memories, when the world you live in is no longer the world you know ? Especially when you have to pay so high a price, like living in the cold forever. It was a very interesting character, not my favorite, but thought provoking. Thank you for all the outstanding work you put in these translation, and to your commissionner.

  9. And it ended 😭 i’m glad but I’m sad too Booo-hooo.
Ye Baiyi didn’t have a happy life, but he surely knows How to enjoy the little details.

Thanks for your Hard work 😘

Hermoso! Thank you so much for translating this wonderful masterpiece! I was waiting for chapters and you (and the commissioner) came to save my day!!
