Flowerfair lanterns lit night up like day,
during yesteryear’s Lantern Festival
The moon rose above willow boughs asway,
whilst two spoke furtively after nightfall

The moon and lanterns are yet identical,
during presentyear’s Lantern Festival
The one from yesteryear is not seen here,
tears dampening sleeves of springtime premier
