Once expecting a Mengjin march, their hearts are within Xianyang still
The mixt troop’s strength is not in suit, stalling ‘fore lining up like geese
Arrogance makes men squabble twixt, their heirs set to yet fight amongst
Brother of Huainan dubs himself, a seal is engraved in the North
Armor worn until lice is born, countless family names have died
White bones lay exposed in the fields, no cries of fowl for li thousand
One soul remains per hundred folk; the thought tears us apart within.

关东有义士，兴兵讨群凶。
初期会盟津，乃心在咸阳。
军合力不齐，踌躇而雁行。
势利使人争，嗣还自相戕。
淮南弟称号，刻玺于北方。
铠甲生虮虱，万姓以死亡。
白骨露于野，千里无鸡鸣。
生民百遗一，念之断人肠。

Translation Notes
Crooks = Dong Zhuo’s army.
Meeting at Mengjin = King Wu of Zhou once summoned together eight hundred vassals at Mengjin.
Xianyang = the capital of the Qin Dynasty
Brother of Huainan = Yuan Shu, who named himself Emperor two years before dying.
Seal = imperial seal of an Emperor, referring to Liu Yu (刘虞)
