Zhou Zishu, who was following behind Helian Yi, took a step back, looking pensively at Wu Xi as he stood beside him, brows lightly furrowed.

Jing Qi was quiet for a long time, still having that sallow complexion and those unmoving eyelids despite his heart flipping around a couple of times. That day in the East Palace, when Helian Yi blurted out those words, which seemed to remain in his ears, prior to his leaving, a slight hint of something different vaguely came through them.

  1. hopefully hly can just.. move on.. like he really needed someone to just tell him that itd never happen. which is sad, honestly, because he likes jby. after this i think hly will be able to move on somewhat, though i dont think he’ll ever really love his wife. or maybe he will? its sad for him to be told that so bluntly, but its what he needed to get a grasp on reality. he’ll be better off not pining after jby all the time because it wont go anywhere. i cannot bring myself to hate hly, and i just hope he finds someone else who he loves

  2. i don’t hate helian yi, i understand his point why he can’t confess his love to jing qi but I just don’t like how he’s trying to control jing qi in some occasion. him wanting to jing qi to be like those well-behaved ladies is a big red flag to me. why? because he want jing qi to be obedient on him and use him as much as he wanted. he even treated him like an incompetent fool who doesn’t know how to think. maybe it can also be jing qi fault because he painted his public appearance like that but dude, how can you not see the real capability of your friend? didn’t you two grow up together since you were a child? even wu xi can see pass through the fake facade he’s putting in public. i’m not saying he should give up pursuing the throne just to be with jing qi, but can’t he do both? with jing qi’s intelligence, they can scheme together! their relationship won’t hinder their plans, instead they could be a powerful couple! it just shows how his “feelings” for jing qi is not enough reason for him to take the risk and share his plans for the future of da cheng with him.

  3. Oh my God, I don’t blame HLY for not being good to a dog, fox, plant and insect. I blame him for his double standards. He’s a typical scum. HE KEEPS A STAND-IN OPENLY. I don’t feel him to be pitiful. His great love doesn’t amount to much. A little suspicion can make all that love turn to hate. He’s the kind of person who can betray someone who worked so hard for him until their hair turned white. In this life, despite nothing happening, HLY still doubts JBY, doesn’t want him to have too much power, doesn’t want ZZ to describe him as a man of great foresight and vision. Why? Because he doesn’t want JBY to be out of the scope of his control. It’s disgusting. I don’t expect him to give up his country for love. But since he has chosen the throne, stop running over to JBY WHILE KEEPING HIS STAND-IN. The most disgusting thing for me is how he compares JBY to SQL. Imagine Wu Xi being presented with a stand-in. His reaction would be the complete opposite of HLY. Wu Xi wouldn’t appreciate someone with similar looks. He’d feel that SQL isn’t worthy of even a toe of JBY. But HLY not only likes that stand-in, he even wishes that JBY would be as ‘well-behaved’ as SQL and not stir up so much trouble. Every time I see SQL, I feel like I’ve eaten a fly. My baby MC, who is so erudite, so visionary, so exceptional is being compared to a woman who sells herself for money. That woman is even a two-faced bitch of a spy as well. So please, tell me why I should feel pity for a blind freak who thinks these two people can be on the same comparison scale. I honestly can’t fathom this. If HLY were taken out of the scope of those past lives and only considered in this life, he is still a typical scum who says love on his lips while cheating. Why are people blind to his actual actions?

  4. Helian Yi is a Crown Prince and the country’s future is in his hand. How can he leave everything for love? I don’t know about the past life but here I think his feeling for Jing Qi is genuine. I ship Wu Xi and Jing Qi but I can’t help feeling sorry for Helian Yi.

  5. I’m not #teamwuxi or #teamhelianyi, i just want Jing Qi to be loved and admired by all and to live his best life. Tbh i think a third future leader should fall for him. And he should be the ceo of apple and yves saint laurent.
    Thank you for translating!

  6. why do people hate helian yi so much? it’s not like he remembers his first life with jq, in this one he loves him but knows he can’t be with him properly bc he’s the future emperor, if jing qi was a woman he’d definitely ask for his hand in marriage, but since he can’t he knows he has to let go of him, but forgetting your feelings is still hard, jing qi had seven lifetimes for that, helian yi was forced to marry by his father, was he supposed to say no? impossible, just like it seems impossible for him to have jing qi and to stop loving him, so yes i do very much feel pity for him, he’s paying in this lifetime what he did in his first but the other five ones when jq wasn’t even a human weren’t his fault how was he supposed to know that a fucking flower and a dog and fucking fly was him lmaoooo, i honestly like him more with jing qi than wu xi, but I’ll keep reading to see if I end up liking wx and jq as a couple, for now i don’t lol tho i very much love wu xi as character, he’s so cute and honest and refreshing in a story were everyone is plotting, but like jing qi i see him as a child

  8. Don’t really feel bad for HLY even though I do like him more than WX. Honestly, everyone in this story is so dumb I can’t decide if I want to laugh or cry more lmao

  9. I don’t think He Lian Yi deserve Jing Qi. He may likes Jing Qi, but he doesn’t love him deep enough to be willing to sacrifice a lot of things for him.

He Lian Yi and Wu Xi are both the future leaders of their own countries, but they way they see and treat Jing Qi really show who deserve Jing Qi better.
So.. no pity for the crown prince 😜

  10. I pity HLY and I get where he’s coming from — he *is* a prince after all, and his older brothers are no good for the throne. If the two of them had different identities then they could’ve ended up together.

But just because I sympathize with HLY doesn’t mean I ship him with JQ. JQ deserves happiness too, so he’s better off with WX.

Now, what I really want to know is *why* HLY had to kill JQ in their 1st lifetime, and whether he was aware of his feelings (and was using Su Qinglian as a substitute) that time as well. So curious…

  11. i do not pity HY because he has a choice and he DID not choose JQ. so JQ deserves better which is our WX!!!~ rooting for you ah Wu Xi ah~ thank u for the chapter :>

  12. I know HLY don’t deserve it, but i ship HLY n BY. I know this is a ship that meant to drown, however i wish in the far alternate universe HLY could let go of his ambition n starting a calm life with BY. My reason for this is that BY has suffered enough due to his feelings towards HLY and it just sadden me that its all for naugth TTATT

  13. Helain Yi deserves no pity, he once had enough chances to realize the love he got but decided to instead ignore it and trample the other’s heart.
When Jing Qi said he couldn’t remember love because his heart was dead. I wanted to punch Helian Yi who ignored Jing Qi’s love for so many lifetimes!!!

Hahaha, Jing Qi just avoided an arranged marriage!

    Thanks for the chapter!!

  14. Lol i wonder why the translator is so determined on reminding people not to side with hly. I’m on XiYuan ship myself, but some people I follow on twitter love Helian Yi.
My heart breaks every time Jing Qi calls Wu Xi a child..

    • I still pity Helian Yi. While he did fail to realize Jing Qi was at his side in the past, it’s not like he remembers rejecting him. It was his past life, and in this life he has been good to Jing Qi while Jing Qi has been pretty cold. Not that I fault him at all, living through what he lived through is painful af and he deserves better, but I also don’t feel like it’s necessarily fair to spear this HY when he’s innocent.

Also I’m a little confused, the first life that JQ and HY were together for was entirely HY’s fault for the way it ended. However, the others just seemed like bad encounters with fate? Like he was a plant for one that was left to wither, or an insect crushed accidentally. It obviously really sucks for him, but it’s not HY’s wrong?? So I’m just confused about the hate train for this man. I support WX and JQ the most bc they’re cute and have a healthy relationship, but I still feel bad for this HY too.

      • I have to agree with you. The reincarnations after his first life were more like bad luck than HLY intentionally ending his plant/animal life. He didn’t know JQ had been reincarnated 🤷
Although, we could argue the fact that if destiny truly wanted them together, HLY would have known JQ’s soul subconsciously.
I’d like to know the full details on his first life, because that’s the one that has the most meaning.
I understand HLY’s position and that can complicate things drastically. He’s picking duty over his own feelings, however if he keeps trying to have the best of both worlds, then he needs to be on his way.
I support JQ and WX, although it seems to be taking a while for JQ to see what’s before his eyes 😂

  15. Why would anyone pity Helian Yi? He has plenty of lovers to pick from. Why must he covet his friend? It’s a relief that he has given up at last. He can go have babies and leave Jing Qi alone.

What an excellent way to avoid the marriage, hahaha. Clever.

    Thanks for the chapter!

  16. I have no pity for the prince. He’s had several lifetimes of a chance, and he’s treated MC horribly each one.
Besides, you just know that if MC and prince dude ended up together first life, it would’ve been terrible.
Mc would just be this dirty little secret, tucked away and left lonely… all while the prince sleeps with his army of consorts for an heir. I know he’s got a kingdom to run, but that’s still a pretty shit position to put a person in.
ML on the other hand is a huge sweetie. He’d be proud to have MC beside him.
So… it’s a huge relief that prince dude doesn’t have a chance this life. Or ever.

    • I agree with some parts, but it’s not his fault that he didn’t realize BY was a plant or a fly or whatever like… what? That’s completely out of his control lmao. In this lifetime he hasn’t been horrible to BY, on the contrary he’s treated him tenderly and with affection and it’s not his fault that he was born into this position, and even though I am a Xiyuan shipper I still feel bad for HLY bc…. gay pining and unrequited love are a tale as old as time an still painful as hell, esp bc he’s not the same person as the HLY in the first lifetime
